This is a new Baking and Decorating course for those of you who are unable to come to our five day Baking and Decorating Class. This is highly intensive class with no time to sit and chat! At the end of three action packed days, you will gain a tremendous amount of knowledge about modern wedding cake baking and decorating. THIS CLASS IS SUITABLE FOR BEGINNERS. 

Class starts at 10am and we aim to finish by 5pm on all days. 

In this three day class, you will:

  • Bake two layers of a gorgeously moist chocolate cake under our supervision
  • Bake one layer of a sumptous orange madeira cake with an improved recipe
  • Learn how to layer up your cakes and cover them with chocolate ganache, let it set with super sharp edges
  • Cover your ganache covered with sugarpaste (fondant) and achieve super sharp edges using our very simple technique
  • Learn how to make large sugar roses and rose leaves
  • Learn how to make smaller flowers
  • Learn how to arrange a sugar rose bouquet on your wedding cake
  • Learn how to cover a dummy cake with sugarpaste (fondant) - and find out why this is an invaluable skill for wedding cake makers!
  • Learn how to add neat stripes to your cake
  • Learn how to use basic royal icing piping to add a beautiful touch to your cakes 
  • Learn how to stack and dowel wedding cakes

You will go home with:

  • A three tier cake complete with dummy tiers and iced board
  • Skills to scale up this cake
  • New skills in making sugar flowers, covering cakes with ganache and fondant, arranging sugar flowers on cakes
  • An understanding of basic design principles, cake proportions and colour coordination
  • A wealth of knowledge and understanding about creating wedding or tiered cakes, from start to finish!

All ingredients and equipment for the day are provided, you do not need to bring anything with you.

Please note that you will be encouraged to work at your own speed. Everyone in class is likely to have different skill levels. The teacher will ensure that you work at a pace suitable for you.

Please bring a note pad and pen to the class. We encourage you to ask as many questions as possible during the class. Please do not use lunchtime or time after class for questions, you teacher will need a break!

If you would like, you can bring a large bag to carry your cakes home. We provide sturdy cardboard boxes, but you may find it easier to carry your cakes in a bag such as an Ikea bag.
