This is a brand new cake course for 2019 that we have designed with beginners in mind. This is a completely different cake course to the others we run. The emphasis here is FLAVOUR! In this action packed three day cake course, you will not only do everything from scratch - from baking your own cakes to making buttercream and ganache, you will also work with infused syrups and more natural decorative elements such as dried edible flowers and nuts to make the cakes more "eatable". You see, with heavily decorated cakes, sometimes (only sometimes), there is a mild reluctance to eat said pieces of art. Enter patisserie style cakes - they look lovely and no one will think twice before tucking in!

Class runs from 10am to 5pm on all days.

As always, we will use the BEST quality ingredients and tell you exactly where you can buy these from to up your cake game!

In this three day course, you will learn:

  • How to bake two very different cakes, with multiple layers, from scratch
  • How to make Swiss Meringue Buttercream
  • How to make chocolate ganache buttercream
  • How to split and level a cake to prep it for decorating
  • How to use a turntable effectively to decorate your cakes
  • How to bake and decorate a round AND a square cake
  • How to work with natural ingredients, such as lemons etc. to use as very pretty cake decorations
  • How to make a flavoursome lemon and lavendar cake
  • How to make a chocolate fudge cake
  • How to work with gold leaf on buttercream to add extra edible glamour to a cake
  • How to make chocolate truffles to decorate your cake
  • How to work with infused syrups to make your cakes even more mouthwatering!

We are very excited to be offering this class to all our students, past and present. It is jam packed full of techniques and tricks that will enable even the very beginners to become more confident in their cake baking. It only takes a little bit of practice before you can start producing professional looking cakes with ease!

You will go home with:

  • Two cakes with multiple layers that you will have baked and decorated yourself
  • New skills in making Swiss Meringue Buttercream - from scratch
  • New skills in making Instagram worthy cakes from scratch
  • Confidence to produce high quality cakes at home
  • Answers to any cake questions that you can throw at us!

PLEASE NOTE: We will be using NUTS in this class, therefore it is not suitable for nut allergy sufferers. 

All ingredients and equipment for the day are provided, you do not need to bring anything with you.  Please note that you will be encouraged to work at your own speed. Everyone in class is likely to have different skill levels. The teacher will ensure that you work at a pace suitable for you.
